Matteo Trentin won the sprint in stage 4 of the Tour de Wallonie. The Italian wound up his sprint from further back, passing his rivals and taking the win ahead of Timo Kielich (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Emilien Jeannière (TotalEnergies).

"This win is very important. In the first part of the season I was good but not good enough to come home with the victory," the 35-year old said. "Finally, it came true. Thanks to all the team everything came together today. It was a secondary goal to get the leader’s jersey, as we knew that winning the stage could lead in getting the jersey. Everything went according to plan. We rode smart and the team set me up perfectly.”

Matteo will start the fifth and final stage of Tour de Wallonie with a 6’’ lead on Corbin Strong (Israel Premier Tech) who was previously in the lead. The final loop, the short climb to the finish line win in Thuin but also the bonus seconds attributed for the stage will be the deciding factors for the final GC classification.
