In challenging conditions with rain and strong winds in Mallorca, the team showed great determination at the Trofeo Serra Tramuntana. The demanding 150km course, featuring 2,000m of elevation, was designed to split the peloton and create a select group for the finale — around 40km flat with a 400m climb at 9% leading into the heart of Selva.
From the start, the team took control, pushing the pace and making sure only the strongest riders remained. By the time they hit the last climb, Coll de Sóller, just 15 riders were left in contention, including Marc Hirschi and Florian Stork.
Two riders crested the KOM point ahead, but the descent shook things up, and Marc launched an attack to chase them down.
With the front group coming back together in the last 12km, Florian saw his chance. With 3.3km to go, he went for it — a daring solo attack that quickly opened up a gap. The chasing group tried to close in, but he held them off all the way to the finish line, securing his first professional victory in the presence of Team Owner and CEO.
An emotional Florian reacted right after the finish: “I can’t believe this happened. The weather made today a tough day: the plan was to work hard to create this situation and it worked out perfectly. Marc was one of the favourites for the race, so when we both made the front group he told me 'when you see the moment, just go!' because they would be watching him, and this also makes a good leader of him. I attacked at the right time and made it to the finish. This is my first pro victory, I sometimes thought this day might never come, it’s unbelievable.”
Claudio Cozzi and Matteo Tosatto, sports directors on site, comment: “Our plan from the start was to make the race hard and reduce the group before the finale. Around 20km from the finish, Marc came to the car and suggested playing Florian’s card as the first option. We agreed and told him to wait for the perfect moment to attack. Seeing a hardworking domestique take a well-earned victory is always special.”
A fantastic team effort and a breakthrough moment for Florian and the team — one to remember!
